Mold Testing and Remediation
There are several different methods used to remediate mold.
HealthyAir provides many different mold testing and remediation solutions. From fogging to encapsulation and physical removal, we offer these services to customers in the greater Atlanta area, click to view our service area information. Depending on the type of mold, amount of active mold colonies, and location and general condition of the area, one or more of the following mold removal methods will be recommended:
- Fogging the Affected Area: Fogging allows a chemical application to be atomized (or made into a minute mist) so that it may be effectively delivered to every part of the targeted area. Attics, crawl spaces, large rooms, and new construction are ideal for fogging. Fogging can reach distances of 30 feet and covers every inch of the space being fogged.
At HealthyAir, we use several different types of fogging agents, depending on the needs of the customer. Our HealthyClean Fogging Agent is an all-natural product made with Tea Tree Oil, which is a very effective germicide and fungicide. HealthyClean is used in our HVAC Sanitizing process and for attic and crawlspace solutions where mold growth is present but not severe. HealthyClean is completely safe to use around people and pets, and allows homeowners to return shortly after the application.
In more severe cases, we utilize a serum fogging agent that was originally developed by the military for treatment of more aggressive biohazards such as anthrax. This product is also very safe to use in the home, but requires that the occupants be away from the home or office for a little longer. Once this product has dried, it leaves behind a fine dust that is not hazardous. Because it does leave a little dust, we prefer not to use this product inside the HVAC system.
We use professional grade Ultra Low Volume (ULV) Foggers, which generate atomized fog particles by using high pressure. By reducing the droplets to extremely small size and dispersing them under great pressure, our ULV foggers can effectively treat every crack and crevice. The ability to be able to calibrate the machine to produce droplets of the optimum size for the type of chemical being used make ULV fogging the method of choice whenever possible.
- Cleaning, Encapsulation, or Removal of Affected Material: Building materials that have mold growth may need to be removed in order to remediate, but many times they can be treated in place. This type of remediation includes a thorough cleaning of the affected area with a fungicide designed to kill existing mold colonies and inhibit future growth. If desired, the area can also be encapsulated with a material that will prevent mold growth altogether.
As with any remediation project, a plan for controlling the humidity in the affected area is recommended. Water damage is responsible for many mold problems, but unregulated humidity in basements and crawl spaces is a more common problem that needs to be addressed, particularly if you live in a hot and humid climate.
Additionally, after every mold remediation project a clearance certificate is provided to show the success of the remediation. For more information on mold remediation options, contact us now.
After finding out we had mold in our home, we knew to turn to HeathyAir. They came out the next day and did an environmental inspection to find the cause of the mold. Once they were finished with the inspection, we had them go ahead and remove the mold over the next couple days. They were very nice and very thorough.
